What is the Theta Brainwave?
There are five different frequencies of brainwave: Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma. The brain continuously produces brainwaves in all these frequencies.
Beta
Beta is the state in which you are active and alert. Beta waves have a frequency of 14-28 cycles per second. Whenever you are speaking, thinking and communicating, your mind is in Beta.
Alpha
Alpha is the bridge between Beta and Theta. Alpha waves have a frequency of between 7 and 14 cycles per second. The alpha frequency can be described as a very relaxed state of mind. Alpha waves govern daydreaming and fantasizing. Alpha has been known to take away pain and is useful in healing.
Theta
A Theta state is a very deep state of relaxation. This is the state used in hypnosis and dreaming in the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep. Theta waves have a frequency of 4 to 7 cycles per second. Going into the Theta state allows us to make positive changes at the level of the unconscious mind.
Delta
A delta state is when a person is in a very deep sleep or coma. Delta waves have a frequency of 0 to 4 cycles per second.
Gamma
A gamma state is dominant when a person is learning and processing information. Gamma waves have a frequency of between 40 and 5,000 cycles per second.
